This is something we feel really strongly about and we think it’s worth talking about properly.
Young children can get tangled in blind cords, chains, and looped wires. It’s a serious hazard and it’s one that’s easily prevented. All buyers and users of blinds should be aware of it.
When we do a home visit, if we see existing blinds with loose cords — especially in kids’ bedrooms — we’ll always mention it. It’s not a sales pitch, it’s a safety thing. Here’s what we recommend:
- If you’ve got blinds with cords, fit safety cleats to keep them out of reach. We can supply these.
- Keep cots and beds away from windows where blinds have cords.
- When replacing blinds, consider cordless options — Perfect Fit blinds, motorised blinds, and shutters are all cord-free.
All the products we supply and fit meet current child safety regulations, and we’re fully insured. If you’ve got concerns about existing blinds in your home, give us a call and we’ll happily advise — even if you didn’t buy them from us.
