If there’s one style of shutter we get asked about more than any other, it’s café style. And honestly, we’re not surprised — they just look lovely.
Café style means the shutters only cover the bottom half of the window. The top half stays open, so you get loads of natural light coming in while the bottom half gives you privacy from the street. It’s called café style because it’s the look you see in restaurants and cafés all over Europe.
They’re especially popular on ground-floor rooms where people walk past your window. You can sit on the sofa watching telly without feeling like you’re on display, but the room still feels bright and airy.
The other nice thing is they’re a bit more affordable than full-height shutters because you’re using less material. So if you love the shutter look but you’re watching the budget, café style is a good option.
We do them in all our materials — MDF, Paulownia, and the waterproof ABS ones for bathrooms. Pop us a message if you want to see them in person.
